Shear Arc Welder

Image of Shear Arc Welder Machine by Kriton Welders
In case of strip coil welders, the Arc Welding Process is sometimes employed when the thickness of ferrous or non-ferrous strip is high and little long weld time is permissive. Here Mig or Tig Welding is used for semi-auto operation. The equipment has a double-cut centralized shear to ensure exact parallel and simultaneous cut of both entry and exit strips to be joined. Both ends of strips are clamped and abutted together after cutting. The weld torch is moved over the join lengthwise at predetermined speed of torch-holding fixture maintaining the arc. The control of current and end sensing to start and stop the weld process are necessary for suitable weld. The annealing and weld dressing can also be added as may be needed. Sometimes two or more torches are used for the route and fill-up passes of the weld at strip joint.
